Chris Prout

Contemporary British Painter  (Born 1964).

Chris is an established British artist and well known for his dynamic impressions of land, sea, and architecture.

Working from his home studio he often leans towards Wales, the Norfolk coastline and his
adopted county of Northamptonshire for inspiration. His paintings are rich in colour, texture and are representational or semi abstract in nature. Being a keen draughtsman, he enjoys working from direct contact with his subject matter, whether on location or in the studio. It would be fair to say that studying, drawing and physically absorbing his chosen environments, are the key components to his finished works. His painting style is brisk, atmospheric and seemingly carefree, though upon inspection you will see his works are considered, structured in composition and colour.

Working mainly in his preferred medium of acrylic paint. His painterly mark making is bold and layered. Whether he works on canvas, paper or wood panel, he uses a brush and palette knife to make a distinctive impression and often tussling with the surface to create the desired effect.

Chris’s work has been exhibited countrywide and he is supported by an excellent network of galleries. The past years have been extremely busy for him with a substantial private commission of 18 works alongside recent exhibitions in Cardiff, Holt, Stamford, Moreton in the Marsh and Guilsborough, Northamptonshire.

His work can be found in many private collections throughout Britain, America, Australia, Japan and European countries.
