We were drawn to Sue’s work though the surface texture and colour and the impressive and engaging hand-built forms. Sue’s early work was thrown on the wheel, only coming to hand-building much later in her career. Today Sue concentrates solely on hand-building, relishing the time for the development of each work.
Nature is a major source of inspiration for Sue. She combines the gentleness of undulating landscapes, the turmoil of the sea and the soft sensuality of the human form into her work. Using a variety of traditional hand building techniques Sue creates contemporary sculptural forms.
At present Sue is Artist In Residence at The University of Reading. Sue exhibits her work throughout out the UK through galleries and specialist craft and ceramic events.
