“My affinity with the rugged north Cornish coastline and its wild seas has been a lifelong obsession and is the main focus of my work as an artist . I have holidayed in Cornwall every year since childhood and am now lucky enough to be able to paint there all summer and be a hop, skip and a step away from the sea every day. I love the varying weather conditions so often experienced on the coast as one minute the sea can look like a tropical paradise the next a raging cauldron of spray and towering waves – inspiration at every turn!
The beaches, sea and surrounding landscape provide endless opportunities for exploration and gathering information via notebooks, sketches and photography whilst out on cliff top walks is an important part of my art practice – using my observations to inform my mixed media paintings, which are usually completed back in my studio.”
