“I grew up by the sea in Suffolk. It became subtly enmeshed in my life and the sound of waves crashing on shingle feels like a backdrop to my life.
As a (primarily) still life painter, my downtime is often spent painting plein-air and I enjoy painting trips with fellow artists and exhibiting in coastal towns. I like to pack up my condensed painting kit and wander down to a busy harbour or windswept beach. I spend a week each year with some other painters down in St.Ives and often visit Cornwall.
I’m also lured back to Suffolk to paint the coast on a regular basis. The sea is a fascinating subject, full of colour and changing light.”
